What does everyone think about the HPI Baja 5B Gas Buggy?
I like the idea that it has a 35 minute run time but the tank is a 700cc tank. You would hope for it to get a 35 minute run time.
The price of it keeps changing at Tower Hobbies etc. (now $979.99) but i got told from a guy that works at HPI that it should be out Mid-Late May

Some reason i think it will be fragile though. That is why it has taken HPI so long to get this thing on the market

I doubt it will be fragile. Rcca tested it and in the mag they said it was awsome and jumped heaps well. They also said they got it cartwheeling once or twice and it was fine. Something that big carthweeling on tarred road has to be fairly tough to not break anything

i think it took a long time to produce because hpi havnt done anything like that before... a large scale fuellie takes a lot of planning... companies like FG have large scale down to a fine art, so they know what has to be done. hpi have had to start from scratch and plan every little bit of the process.. so yeah they will have troubles. i expect they are just finding weak points that have to be sorted. although ive been told the first batch has been produced and is on its way.

The thing that frustrates me is that the was a little tiny track and they didnt look like hey went past 1/2 throttle & both of them broke a number of times and one was out for the rest of the day.

If I have been waiting months & months and paying $800-$1000 I want something that wont break. In one of the videos he says the one without the blue lights is the first prototype. That is wrong, he says that they are both production models just that one has a little more time on it.

A little more time on it?! If I am paying that much I want it to last. I am not going to go bash and baby it around the dirt the way they did.

On video 11 on the last jump when it looks like it was a bad throw, it actually already had broken the ball cup before the jump if you look real close.

I am really disapointed in HPI. I will say it once again if I am paying $800-$1000 & have been waiting for months I want it to be great :?

One thing I noticed is it is nose heavy. Sucks if you wanna jump it.

Yeah to me it just seems like a over growen buggy that you will have to doddle around in the dirt instead of jumping. Never seen it to a big jump in all of the videos
