Yeah this weekend is a huge weekend for it. I would be out there right now but getting up at 4:45am and running 10 Miles takes all your energy out of you. I might see if I can get out there tomorrow, only downside is its about an hour away =/

That track is being built within a full scale race facility. There is a dragstrip, oval track, mx track, kart track, rc airfield...talk about a place for motorheads!

It's about an hour and a half from me. SRS is about 1/2 an hour from me but I don't think 8th scale will last long there. There is also a guy from Florida that just moved here that is building a track and hobby shop and there going to race 8th scale.

This announcement you've been waiting for is now available for your viewing pleasure below. Long winded and sappy I can get, but there will be none of that in this post. Well, possibly a very minuscule amount of sappiness but that's it.

For some time now a group of local R/C racers have been committed to expanding R/C racing in this great state of Arizona. About a year ago Ross Denny and Todd Jonas got the idea of an Arizona point series. Now it could have stayed just an idea but they were willing to purchase a transponder system and organize (with the addition of Trevor Clement) what ended up to be a huge 3 month event! Our Arizona Point series was a blast last year and I know all of you are itching to get the details of the next one. It won't be long now! With the closing of Hobby Action, most of you have you're buggies and truggies sitting on the shelf with after run oil. Three people; the same that brought you the Arizona Point Series, have formed an organization focused on the long term success of R/C racing in this "Valley of the sun", as well as the entire state of Arizona. They've been feeling your pain of seeing your vehicle only on the shelf and not on the dirt, they've missed the weekly get together at the track with good friends, that thing we have going (great group of racers having the best times together); their done waiting.............They're building a track!

Yesterday for 15 hours we worked to make the old H.A. track 4000 pounds lighter. With backbreaking work from Bob Downs, Paul Lynchmob, Dominick Sansone, Josh Nelson, Ross Denny, Craig Westfall and Tammy, Arizona's newest track location has a 33 foot long drivers stand with unlimited track, pit, and parking space. Todd, Ross, and Trevor have secured land at Speedworld for this new track and for those of you that haven't been there, it's a race facility like I've never seen.
http://www.speedworldmotorplex.com/ (http://www.speedworldmotorplex.com/) This facility has Drag racing, Motocross tracks, sand drags, model airplane pylon racing, 1/4 scale R/C racing, a stock car circle track, and now a California style R/C track. I was there last night and the smell of race fuel burning was so sweet to the senses!

This Speed world track is phase 1 of ownership's overall plan with phase 2 in the late planning stages as I write this. Phase 1 at Speedworld is a track that will become operational within 20 to 45 days and will be the home base for the Arizona Point Series. Phase 2 is a track to be located 2 miles from the intersection of Interstate 17 and Loop 101. The proposal for Phase 2 will be submitted by 3pm on Thursday October 19th. Phase 3 of their plan is a facility to be located in the east valley. Currently Phase 3 is in the planning stages and the search for ideal land is ongoing.

In no way is the Speedworld track a temporary facility that will be abandoned as the later phases come to fruition. Substantial money is being spent at the Speedworld track and as such is being constructed as a long term facility.

We will be contacting tracks both local and state wide, to determine their interest in being part of this coming Arizona Point Series and will be releasing the point series schedule within two weeks.

Todd, Trevor, and Ross have given me the honor of once again being your race director. I know these guys well and respect them on many levels, so for them to put me in this position is something I take very seriously. I'm very excited for the future of all of us in the tremendous racing group!

The Nitro Pit (http://www.thenitropit.com/) is having it's first race on December 9th!

The plan for Saturday is going to go like this:

10:30 - 11:30am - Open practice
11:30 - 12:00pm - Track closed for water and prep.
12:00 - 1:00pm - Open Practice
1:00 - 2:00pm - Track Closed for water and prep.

2:00pm - Racing starts!!!!!

This is a general plan for Saturday but it may change depending on track needs. Saturday is really a day for us to get the bugs out and get a feel for what the track needs. If we have to make any adjustments please be patient with us, it's a trial run so we can get it right when it counts!!!!!
