For offroad, rubber seals on all the bearings. Rubber seals are the best for sealing out dirt...but the seals create alot of drag. Metal sheilds have the least amount of drag, but dont seal as well as rubber. You can get bearings that are rubber sealed on one side and metal sheilds on the other, just make sure the rubber seal is on the exposed side.
Something I have experimented with since I started doing regular clutch maintanance is a little tip I learned from Jeremy Kortz when he was on RC Racin Radio....when you first assemble a clutch with new parts, run the inner bearing dry, with no seals and leave the outer bearing alone. Then when you take your clutch appart next time, pull the old inner bearing out and toss it, pull the seals off the old outer bearing and put it in the inner position and run a new outer bearing....its a revolving cycle that saves you a bearing on every clutch rebuild.

I like metal sealed for the clutch bell and rubber for the others.. just got a shipment of 20 bearings for 1$ each from www.avidrc.com (http://www.avidrc.com) the best quality:thumbs:
