What your expiriences and oppinions of radio telemetry? Another thread got me thinking about it and I didnt want to hijack or give the impression of being biased, hatin' or bashing someone product. So, I started this thread about telemetry in general, NOT specific to any brand or MFG.

Lets hear it NA.

For me, I wonder how acurate telemetry is. The one and only time I witnessed telemetry, temps were way off compared to the trusty Exergen I was using to compare with. BUT, that could be something as simple as where the temp was taken from and/or sensor placement.

I do see where it has its place for the yard basher being or at the track alone. Its nothing that gives an advantage or can really be used during a race, so I couldnt ever see myself using it.:nono:

My reasoning: You'll still need a tried and true pitman to turn the needles, if you are running lean/fat and if you ever have to change a Rx batt. during a race, well your done anyway. I think its a great idea, but all I want from my radio is giving me an unparalleled connection and feel to the car.

I agree most systems that I've seen tend to be less than accurate. I see no need for mph and when I'm racing there's no time to look for temps much less anything else but the battery would be nice but again if you do regular checks then I think it's a waste......:ah1:

It does seem to be a bit of a novelty and temp sensors of any kind can give a wide range of readings. I could see it being usefull at times when racing because while pit men are always needed their not always tried and true and it can be hard to comunicate with pit road at some tracks. just my 2 cents.

I have telemetry on my control and don't like it much. The temp is pretty close once you figure out where to put the sensor. The batt one I don't like at all it will show a good charge and then 5 minutes later its dead. I don't know if that is just mine or if they all do that but when I get another control it will not have the telemetry on it.

Interesting and very useful thread

Too many variables in my opinion, just something else to worry about wether it is workin right or not.

Personally, rpm would be useless for me. Engine temp could be useful when practicing alone, but only if my tune is all-to-h@ll in the first place and I'm in the aforementioned situation. And after verifying tele-temp against a known, repeatable temp gun. Battery voltage can be useful, again in certain situations. My current Tx has telemetry, but I only use it in SCT for battery voltage checks (I have a habit of not swapping packs between heats, doh!).

BTW, poll seems a little biased. There is not a positive choice with regards to the use of telemetry. Just sayin'...:D

Got to say that I barely look at the radio other than to turn it on or off. Personally I would not use any of the telemetry.

I have to aggree with Bonner. Being as what I NEED to be within "touch" (steering trim, thr trim, d/r, d/r2). I've looked down at the transmitters face a few times, but only when in pit lane. I set the vibration modes (pit times, etc) on my 3PKs for a couple laps before needing to pit.

& most of us know the temp gauges! (MIP!)

MY 2 cents!

Telemetry is good for when your practicing and want to see a accurate running temp. As far as r.p.m. listen to your motor. The battery check mode and timers are more of a race day use but just as reminders. don't live by them.Feeling your radio vibrate in your hand because you forgot to charge your receiver pack is an unnerving feeling.

LOL!!!

That is why you top it off after EVERY heat! (Ni-Mh)

a fuel gauge would be nice, eh?
