The Kit is packaged pretty well. Shocks in one bag with fronts and rears in separate bags. Same for diffs. Found a problem already. One of the cross pins for the front diff was notched off center. On the phone with A Main right now to get the correct parts shipped.
Shock caps are two pieces and the threaded part is knurled to make it easier to tighten and loosen. The bladders and boots are very duty. Shock ends have a tab that fits into the spring retainer.

Dude Amain wont play around. When I got my new radio, it showed without a wall charger. Not that it mattered since I could get my Tx charged reguardless but I did pay for it. ANYWAY, it showed the next day.......on SATURDAY!
MORE PICS MAN OR IM DRIVING OVER!:nono:.....:D

I was at Rattlesnake Raceway when A Main brought THE CAR in for testing. There wasn't a Losi or Mugen there that day that out handled it. I'm sure that test car had a few hundred hours of tweeking on it so all you have to do is to find that set up. Good luck with your new car.

Got the parts on the way. Had to wait a while on hold, but ended up getting the parts shipped to the house. Hope they show up soon enough to race it Saturday.
One more thing for anyone wanting to purchase this car. It does not come with any tires or wheels (not a big issue) or fluids.

Front end. From reading other forums there seemed to be some concern by some people about the done engagement in the diff cup at full droop. Have to get it on the track and see.

Giving up for the night. I think an elephant trampled the radio tray and boxes. Spent 4 hours getting them mounted. Will finish and post more pictures tomorrow.

That thing is starting to look good Craig. I looked on th JQ web site and they have made a building hints section to help with some of the unusual components in The Car. But I would guess that you already have it memorized.

definately starting to look good, does it seem like its going to be heavy?

my mate over here just finished building his and i was pretty impressed with what i saw.
i didn't think it was heavy although it didn't have wheels etc on yet but i thought there are some good innovative ideas. i really liked the brake linkage set up and the radio tray design, seems like it'll make quick maintennance pretty easy.
There were a couple of things i was a little unsure about in terms of strength and stuff (mainly front shock tower and shock top caps and where it joins the tower) but i think it will definately become a popular kit.
and the price on them over here is REALLY good considering we pay almost $800 on an Xray etc

Starting to look like a buggy now. Got to finish the linkages and paint then will be ready to hit the track.
No it is not heavy. There are some guys posting theirs with battery and tires/wheels and it is right about 3250 grams.
I really like the JQ site, it is really helpful and will be more so the more track time people get with them. Chad Bradley and Marty Korn are the team drivers for JQ. Even Kendall Bennett is racing one this year.
Apparently there is a problem with the fuel tank mounting posts breaking in the cold. The bone falling out of the outdrive does not seem to be an issue with the guys that have driven theirs.
More pictures later.

Got THE CAR to the track yesterday. Had some issues, but then again I expected some things to go wrong. THE CAR is really easy to drive. Our wonderful USPS could not get a small package from A Main to TN in 5 days so I ended up using a Losi crosspin in the diff, had the brake shoe screw back out, hit a stake and busted a hingepin and busted a shock cap, had the dreaded shaft fall out of the diff cup, and broke off two teeth on the center diff gear.
Time to get some parts and hopefully next time out I won't have any issues and will be able to get a setup under it and have some fun.

Ill bet the plastic shock cap insert is the first running change that "the" car gets.
They do that with Onroad stuff, but the towers and caps are covered by the body and protected, unlike offroad being exposed during a crash. The front tower and caps see more stress than any part of any car.
Having them exposed like that and being plastic is a strike against "the" car IMO. That will DEFINATLY have to be changed for reliability.

JQ has said there will be about a dozen reliability upgrades in the second production run. He did not say what they were though. Yesterday when ordering parts, guess what parts were out of stock? Shock caps!

i ordered two sets of shock plastics and one was in stock and one was not. I also ordered another set of tank mounts but they were out of stock. I will get your shocks back to you as soon as I can. If you need them before SAturday, let me know and I will get them to you.
BTW, THANKS!
