Ok, real beginner question here. I recently bought a Losi Nitro Ten-T truggy RTR kit, 1/10th scale. Long story short, my friend plowed it into the corner of a curb, misaligning the spur gear and clutch pinion gear. Let's just say the plastic spur gear lost against the metal pinion gear =p. Anyways, I had removed the engine from the chassis to get at the center differential, and have fixed the wrecked spur gear. Now to get to the point.....

To remove the engine from the chassis, I had to disconnect the servo arms from the throttle body rod, as well as the brakes. Now that I have put it all back together, I have noticed that the engine idles a little faster, but more importantly, the engine seems to idle at a noticibly lower speed when I apply the brakes while the truggy is at stand-still.

The big question from all this: Is this a normal thing? And if so, when the brakes are applied, should I set the idle speed closer to what the engine is idling at when I dont have the brakes applied?

Just a sidenote, yes I made sure the throttle body arm is fully pushed back when I reattached the servo to it, so I am pretty sure that the throttle isn't accidently opened a little.

You need to adjust the linksge so that the slide is fully closed , so that when the brakes do not force the throttle to close more.
There should be a stop on the outside of the servo horn that you can loosen and manually push the slide closed then with slide fully closed tighten the stop. Do this with the transmitter and receiver both on.
This should take care of your problem.

Hmmm, I have one concern with this, and a little more detailed explanation to add. At normal idle, with the brakes not on, adjusting the idle screw does absolutely nothing. However, when I apply the brakes, adjusting the idle screw then does illicit an idle speed change. With the brakes not applied, the engine definitely idles faster and responds only to low rpm screw adjustments. I almost have to wonder if my low rpm screw is set too lean, making it idle faster to the point of applying a little bit of throttle. However, the engine is running fine, with a puff of smoke on take-off, and not overheating at idle or low speeds. I must say, I am a bit confused at this point.

Oh and as for the servo horn, the stop is only on the side that makes the servo pull the throttle rod, thus opening the throttle. On the opposite side of the servo is a spring.

Undo your servo horn and take it COMPLETELY off. Then turn on your transmitter and receiver. Push back on your horn untill there is a gap on the linkage post thingy.

Then while still maintaining the gap (about 1mm) put your horn back on and do it up.

Done.

Finally got it working properly again. Basically, I set the throttle trim so that the servo is putting a bit of pressure on the spring, and set the nut such that there's a little bit of a gap between it and the servo arm, just to make sure that the throttle rod can close all the way. Thanks for all your help guys!
