this is my custom tmaxx I got for free a few years back it was completely destroyed I replaced everything the custom jeep hard body with side pipe sadly the piston it done I was testing a few things and I didn't put the air filter on and dirt got in it and well the motor is still good the rod is
good but the bottom of the piston its cracked up its 2.5r out of a jato I think I'm not even sure. Anyone know where there's a cheap place to get a piston anything cheaper then 45 if not gotta wait til pay day.

Thanks it took alot of modding to get the body to fit I also have rustler with a jeep hard body with headlight's I enjoy working on it myself but I was thinking of just hitting hobbytown sometime after xmas and just pay them to do it since I have the feeling there are parts missing on the clutch bell.

Does Traxxas STILL have the 'old for new' engine exchange thing going on? I can remember when Traxxas allowed you to send ANY old Traxxas engine in along with $50.00 for a NEW, up to date 3.3 engine.

Actually I think they are but there's not reason for me to get a 3.3 my tmaxx is a 1st generation and I don't need to have it faster I'll just screw it up more if I wreck it.

You 'should' be able to trade it in for the 2.5.
(.15=2.5)
(.18=3.3)

To fit the 2.5 or 3.3 into your truck youre gonna need to change and beef up a few things...The center shafts will need to be swapped for a steel set or a stock set from a 4909 model T-maxx..The .15 shafts are weak and will keep popping off the universal joint pins..The other thing you will need is a throttle setup from a 4909 too unless you can get a 2.5 with rotary carb...I stuck a 3.3 with ez-start setup in a Pro TRX .15 T-Maxx and it wasnt that hard to do utilizing a 22 tooth clutchbell along with the 4909 driveshafts and throttle linkage setup. If youre worried about wrecking the truck faster you could always limit how far the throttle opens up like a governor...
Traxxas will let you trade up or down on engines as long as the trade-in engine is complete and also the price is gonna be a little more than $50 bucks. Its 85.00 plus shipping..For that price you can keep your old engine and just buy one outright from ebay....There is a vendor by the name of NitroRcHobbies..he sells brand new 2.5 and 3.3 engines for $47 for the 2.5 and $52.50 for 3.3 engines...Buying a whole engine from him is cheaper than buying just a sleeve and piston alone..
I stuck a Hummer body on my 4909 Twin engined T-Maxx....It shouldnt take much more for you to fit that jeep body on your T-maxx..You just need the Integy aluminum upper body mount kit...

i took mine to shop and when they were tuning it the motor went so they put a 2.5r in my tmaxx it ran great till the piston cracked im trading an eletric rustler with a 550 titan 12t for a tmaxx .15 with 3 sets of wheels and a few extra parts its runs and drive that sound like a good deal?

When I called Traxxas they said theyre engine sizes run down like the list below and you can trade in a .15 for a 3.3 no problems as long as it has what they ask for in a core....They even said you can trade down also but no-one trades down..lol..I wouldnt do the trade personally..Traxxas really makes out especially if you spend the postage to ship it to them. You can get a brand new engine from ebay for the same loot less the swap....Id rather keep the core for parts or future rebuild...pinch tools are a definate worthwhile investment when it comes to prolonging the life of a nitro engine
TRX Pro.15 = .15
TRX 2.5 = .16
TRX 2.5r = .18
TRX 3.3 = .20
