I got it from toyworld in nambour (that is near maroochydore) talk to russel he will hook u up it cost me one thousand and 50 for everything and that included hump pack and chargers and rotostart batterie and chargers and stuff like that. It is quite fast keeps up to my hyper 7 easily, and i dropped it from bout 13 ft standing on a chair outside and it didn't bottom out.

Have you checked out issue 124/march 06 of xtreme rc?
They have a review of John Schultz's Savage SS 4.6. He took of the eight shocks and replaced them with a set off a Mugen MBX-5 Buggy.

Oh ok well i imagine your a racer. Get a revo 3.3 or something they are the same lenght as the savage so if your at a club you should be able to race both 1/8 and 1/10

I noticed you have the 3 speed transmission in your Savage, did you have any problems with it changing into 3rd?

I have just fitted one in my Savage SS and can i hell get it to change into 3rd. The truck is fully tuned and i've run about 10 tanks of fuel so far and over long distances, but no joy :(

Any advice would be cool 8)

Hey the red truck is mine (I fixes 3 speed in it too) btw Kawasakirider's truck also has three speed! Ok heres what you do - take out the tranny and adjust the two shift points to 3.5 turns from closed (depends on your gearing i run this setup with 49/15 spur gear / clutchbell combos)... So good luck dude

I never had troubles with mine shifting unless the engine was to lean or to rich as soon as it was tuned ok it was changing gears perfectly

Sorry Savagekilla!!

Hmmm...changing from 1st to 2nd is no problem its just the last gear that worries me. The truck is screwing its nuts off at full throttle so i need to fix quick.

adjust the two shift points to 3.5 turns from closed

Closed? You mean screw the nut out until its level and then screw back in 3.5 times? Do i need to do this on both clutches as the gear change is fine from 1st to 2nd?

Thanks for the information :)

ok here what u do --- open the plug that u adjust the 3rd gear shift point , then wth the proper sized allan key tighten the three speed shift point srew all the way down (do not overtighten) then open it abt 3.5 - 4 turns IMO 4 turns is better! .. Feel free to ask any questions... Bye

Gotcha!!

Just a quick heads up on my 3 speed transmission problem.

When i was assembling the transmission, i inadvertently used too much threadlock when tightening the alan-keys on the clutch.

This caused the clutch to stick fast, hence the lack of third gear. I didn't suspect anything though because 1st & 2nd gear worked fine until i inspected the transmission and took it apart.

Took a bit of cleaning up, but everything works a treat now. 8)

Also the advice from savagekilla about adjusting the clutch 3.5 - 4 turns proved to be good information. HPi confirmed this so well done for that. Of course i needed to adjust 5 turns, but my gearing is different. But still a good starting point for anybody wanting to go back to default.

Cheers

Ok guys heres the deal. I am so ************ing pissed off. I finally got my sav back from my lhs the toehr day after they got my carb nut in for me and i went to run it and it still had an air leak so i syliconed it all up and took it out 2 days later (today) and it was running like a POS so i realised the lsn and the hsn was a whole turn leaner then when i gave it to my lhs. i suspect it was the guy that works there because he was rude to my mum when she was following it up and she complained. well i got that fixed and it was running like a champ wheelies on command and anything. all of a sudden there is no wheelies and a little loss in top speed not much tho. i keep running and whenever i come to a stop and nail the throttle i notice a whole lot of front hweel spin and no back wheel (this is on any surface grass, pavemnt, gravel you name it) and i check the drive shafts to see if the cups have slipped off and there is nothing wrong there and the rear diff is fine. I have no idea what is going on. can someone give me a hand?

mrunderhill
04-14-2006, 05:42 PM
So the powers shifted from the rear wheels to the front! You've eliminated the cups and diff so have you checked the wheels, hex?

More power is going to the front wheels so something is slipping somewhere in the drive. Have you stripped it all down and had a closer inspection?

I can't think of anything else it can be really.

mrunderhill
04-14-2006, 05:49 PM
Also thinking about it a little more, the brakes are on the rear so is there a problem there? Something sticking?

If there's resistance on the rear drive then again all the power is going to the front wheels causing a dragging effect on the rear. This will put more load on the front wheels causing them to spin more.

Thinking ot loud here

kawasakirider
04-14-2006, 10:09 PM
Nah guys it is the rear diff the internal gears what happened is the diff cups are to weak and they twisted and sent the mesh ot. Damn i can't beleive it is so weak i mean only on flat ground no jumps or anything

hEY I'M BAK FROM the trip i'm also sick of my savage now (no compression and kind of stuff) i want to sell it and buy a savage LE or a hyper 7 (ofna)

nice truck trent.. remember when mine looked like that.. :p

but those wheels you got on the truck in your avatar. yor not actually using them are you?? you will need the wheel nuts real tight else the hexes will strip.

my truck has gone through a lot of changes since i bought it in late december, the only original parts on it now is the diff housings. literally, everything else has been swapped for lighter weight parts, the latest parts to go on it is a nice set of savage x lower and upper arms.. they are a fair bit lighter than normal savage ones.

kawasakirider
04-21-2006, 08:53 AM
Nah im not using them it isn't my savage in my avatar im using the stock rims with the dirt bonz but i am thinking of getting white or black dish rims chrome stripping off makes it look crap. I con't have a pic of my sav that will fit in the avatar thing and i dunno how to resize it.

you cant.. there is no hole for the 3rd gear shift... changing the shift point from secodn to third requires dissasembly of the gearbox. if your going to be tinkering with gearing i suggest you inves in the savage x gearbox housing. it only takes minutes to take the gearbox apart, so you can adjust much easier.

time to invest in some alloy duff buckets im afraid. it'll keep happening.

ive just bought some flm ones, will let you know how they fare up to my driving style..

i already have the 3 racing ones, they are good. and a bit cheaper. but i can only get em in purple.. so it simply wont do!!!
