I bought a jato 2.5 last week off ebay. The guy who had it upgraded just about everything on it. So now its a 3.3 and just about bullet proof. Took it out of the box to run it and side swiped a rock at 3/4 throttle and broke the gearbox cover where the rod end attaches. So i ordered more for the weekend. Lesson learned I will not operate at night any more.....

For racing I heard they are ok, but you have to do a lot of changes on them.

i have a jato 2.5 and really like it. all i have done to it is change to better tires. my biggest problem is too much trigger finger, but the jato (after break in) is a winner straight from the box.:winner:

I have a Jato 2.5, I like it, super fast, never seen a 3.3. but from driving my 2.5 I can imagine what it is like. To race, (roar legal) the jato will need:
Single speed conversion,
.12 engine
2.2 wheels and tires
Don't quote me on that, I could have missed a few things, I will be selling my jato as a roller soon, buying a revo, with that and my buggy I will hardly ever drive it.

roar legal single chamber
venom smart temp
modified brake linkages (locks up brakes instantly)
currently has snow tires on (not showin in pictures)
and many other diy modifications.
his front suspension went through a race tied together with chicken wire once and still managed to come 4th. tough little things!

Very nice, you like the jato better than a revo for racing?

yeah.. i feel they have more stability and they also weigh less. but if the track was slipery and had mostly light corners the jato would have nothing on the revo (unless tires where changed and the battery box was moved inside the car next to the reciever)
everone is talking about this new hpi firestorm right now thats set to kill off the jato. personaly i highly disagree. yeah the handleing may be great but the power output and also the quality of it is poor. there is a massive gap between the chassis line and where the body ends, stones and alsorts could get in there. the amount of tweeks done to the suspension is limited. but the handling is pretty awsome

love my Jato, wore two 2.5s out on it so far, race it all the time, traction was the biggest problem for a while but trying this and that finally paid off and it wins races, even with three wheels! it met a stray spike on the track this morning and ripped the rear control arm off. of course the spike had to be at the end of the 160 foot front stretch, not pretty. those Alias tires from traxxas work great on the rear, the 2.8 rim seems to make it handle better.

the 3.3 is way too much power for these cars, go easy on the trigger
till you get the feel of it.

Yea i have been lol, i was in this hobby a few years back with a 2.5 t-maxx, had a run away and it hit a metal pole about 6" in diameter filled with concrete..shattered my t-maxx in 4 pieces lol..so im just now getting back into it. its amazing how much stuff you have to re-learn ya know? anyways the 3.3 is a lot of power...and i do feel that it maybe a tad too much. oh well..like ya said..easy on the trigger

i think its a little over powered myself. ive went through half a gallon of fuel and the back tires are gone...the anacondas kind of let me down not on how fast they went bald but they didnt stick really well either. but hey. it is a fun car!! ive only broken a turn buckle, rear shock tower and an a-arm...got the titanium turnbuckles on, rpm blue a-arms and a traxxas shock tower...still runnin good!

im not impressed with the tires either. I tried my sons slash tires on rear and they are not to bad in dirt but i would like to find better road tires.
