It seems that nitro is starting to become extremely popular and RTR Nitro 1/8 Buggy & Truck prices are becoming cheaper and cheaper.

lol, it would be so sweet to have R/C on T.V. Never know, it might actually happen

Electrics may start to become popular again due to manufactures making RTR kits with brushless motors but they still go for the same price as a nitro RTR

Oh now you made me cry
I have nothing but electric due to living in a rual area where the nearest hobby store is almost a hour away. Honestly though you just need to know what your doing with electric. People are shying away because they buy the cars, cheap as hell batts (what parrent is going to spend $50 for one batt when they see cheaps ones for $8) and charging system and then get a 3 minute run time. With nitro you can get 8-15 minutes fun run time and thats what the kids want.

If people would take the time with electric and get the right set up for the car/truck they are running they can achieve the same run times as nitro and have just as much fun. Hell my stampede when I first got it I went with cheap Epic nicds and mt old charger just to get me by. With the stock electronics I was lucky to see 4 min before the batts dropped out. Wasnt long after I got some money together and bought 2 Duratrax intelipeek chargers and 12 Epic 3000mah NiMh batts. Now with the brushless set up I am getting super close to 15 min run times before the batts start to drop out. Hell that was just as good as my old savage and I dont have to keep buying fuel all the time :D Before though I never had the money to step up to better batteries or chargers and all the other electrics I owned I hated because once you just start to have fun and getting the layout memorized the batteries go dead. I should of myself got the better stuff right away liek I have now or I never would of gone Nitro to be honest.

So I think if more would spend time on the electronics ends and see the longer run times they would switch over or keep running but as it sits no matter which way you go your gonna pay because this isnt a cheap hobby but is sure is hella fun :D:D:D

$400 for Nitro and having to keep buying fuel, adjustments to the carb, and slightly more exspensive parts to replace. Plus the hell of trying to learn rc and motor tuning would discourage new people to the hobby.

Or $400 for electric. $20-$50 for decent batteries, another $100 for a good charger/dis-charger, even more for a brushless set up (I mean come on it is the only way to go with electric. No comms to cut or brushes to replace) but once you get electric dialed in especially with brushless you get the same power all the time every time which will leave you to more fun learning how to drive.

Either way they both have pluses and minuses. I like them both myself and if I wasnt disabled and could get around a little easier I would run both for I have a huge back yard that begs to have races in it ;)

I use to have a brushless motor in my xxx-4. Had great fun in it. I have a stempede still running the standard motor but running the esc off a duratrax evader and I get around 10 minutes out of it (and that is running in a backyard that is a hill)

My friends Brushless E-Maxx can keep up with REVO's and almost REVO's with RB's

eah funboy savages and stuff get 15 mins rtime but what u don't realise is you don't have to stop the engine just refuel it and go. With an electric that is getting 15 mins runtime u have to either have a few 50 dollar batts and a quick charger with a ciggrette lighter jack if you are out somewhere to keep running all day and it takes allot more money to get electrics fast compared to nitro and electrics r more complicated than nitro especially for little kids. Little kids have more of a chance of grasping conronds and crank shafts and what not than they do mah and Lipo cells and armatures and turns. SOOOO NITROS RULE ELECTRICS SUCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's true. If you are running 3300MAH batteries and they run for 15 minutes (which they do) it takes 35 minutes to charge them at 5 amps. So once the first battery dies, you still have to wait 20 minutes for the next battery to charger whereas you can just keep toping up the fuel tank

He said he has been having a few problems latley and havent got to run it till the batteries died.

Kawasakie rider: Some chargers have clips for car batteries

Yeah i realise that,if you read my post it says you need one of those chargers and a few batteries allready charged to try and keep going for a while wheras nitro is quicker easier dirtier and funner

i love nitro and i race both nitro and electric, but i see people with nitro doing crazy big air stuff and IMO that is what gets people into the hobby more than anything else. any driver will have respect for anothers skill but to someone just checkin it out, huuuge air etc. is going to look a lot more inviting and that is were nitro is going in the future.

I have both electric and nitro. After taking a long break and getting back into the hobby both are awesome. The truggies are very popular and growing more popular day by day. However, electric has found a second wind with powerful efficient brushless motors and long lasting flexible use lipo packs. Once the new technology is fully accepted than I predict 1/10th scale electric truggies will become a reality. Nitro is sweet, but the only downside i feel nitro has are the constant tuning and the noise that are associated with it.

But what about cutting coms with electric?

Thats what I thought, but than I discovered brusless motors :buttrock: . Brushless does not need as much maintenance as Brushed motors. The lipo brushless combo makes the cars and trucks plug and play. You just have to be careful how you charge your lipo's and not to drain them past a certain point. Lipo's are dangerous, but not that dangerous if properly cared for. Wow, i can't wait to see what is done with the new tech. Nitro for now has the edge in both power and speed, but electric is starting to move faster and faster.

As for the sound as I mentioned earlier, I like the way nitro sounds... But I was driving my Jammin the other day, and my buddy was complaining about how loud it was. I said "really?" :?: To me it wasnt that bad, but I guess I can see his point of view. I told him he was just becoming a p#$$y in is older years.

I race both and I prefer Nitro. I started out in all Electric racing and did very well. But once I started going to track were they raced both, I found my calling. Off Road NITRO!! :-P :-P
It's the whole engine thing with pit stops and fuel....I don't know how to describe it, but :buttrock: :buttrock:

Makes it feel more like a real race! Im sure the pit stops make your adrenaline pump as much as the race does.
