hey guys i was at my local track the other day and one of the guys is selling a barely used (no scratches on chassis) HOABAO Hyper PBS.
he is selling it because he has just got a new 808 buggy and has no time to look after it/drive it. He has rechargable reciever batteries (good ones) and he haas the charger, it comes with a bottle of fuel and a rechargable ignitor and a couple of plugs, the transmitter has awesome regargable batteries in it so no need to go throughh AA cells like food also it comes with hitec servos and there both metal (racing type) geared servos:blbl:. It also comes with body clips and the body its self it also has the starter box included with the car. The only down drop is that they car is having the V-spec bought out of it and has no engine but a guy a the track has offered me a .28 out of a trugg and for $150. The guy wants the car bought for "about" $350 do you think this is a good price (the engine will be another $150 so it will be $350 plus $150):rctruck: Are these buggies tuff and good jumpers that can take a beating by a newbie at the track and good racers?
here is a link: http://www.hobao-racing.com/products/hyperPBS/hyperPBS.php
thankyou for all comments on buggy!

The hyper 7 PBS is a really old car, my wife had one 4-5 years ago. Can you even get parts for it still?
Anyways, there is no way I would give $500 for that, when you could get a newer model rtr car for that much. I would go OCM over this. You have WAAAY better options available than this, for $500 IMO.

but the only difference with the OCM is that it has 6065 metal and plastic toe plates... the PBS has 7075 and metal toe plates... ohh and by the way the money is in AUS! not US. but the car is tuff and my local hobby shop sells parts for them soo... should i go for it ...i could maybe bargin him down to $320?

I would NOT do it. I think Ofna has retired 2 cars since the pbs 7? Wait for the Hyper 9 if you are going to get an Ofna.

I agree with luv, although the car is still popular 350.00 with motor is better. I would offer 200.00. only because of the upgrades. also you can get a ready to run 8.5 for around 500.00. The hyper sevens when set up correctly were awesome cars. Hell I still have one of the first lx pro's with the origannal motor. just changed to pbs, pcr towers, cvd's. I know it is not a race buggy but the *************** handles and fly's great. so for a begginner the 7 is not bad.

:rctruck:I totally agree, I just would be scared the spare crash parts would dry up for it.

I have only ever broke one front upper control arm on my lx pro, and that was when I rammed my 8.5 head on into it. nothing happened to the 8.5. and although I could not get another upper arm for the lx[ pbs came off of an mbx] I bought a whole pbs conversion off of crap bay for 12.00 shipped and used that. it's funny with ofna cars alot of inter changable parts that you would not think would work. but you and I have been doing this long enough to know you can make almost anything work.
:claphat: ofna joe, what motor setup are you running in your 8.5? I put in a axial 28rr that I want to replace with a hyper 8 port. the 28rr is to much in my opinion. any suggestions would be appriciated.

No 8.5 here, but on the Jammin was a RB WS7 II

did you send it back to ofna?if you have a receipt they will fix or replace for free. I did that with a 28 that came with a jammin x1cr. they could not get it going. and I did not have receipt so for 60.00 they shipped me a new motor. which ofcourse I sold. what did you replace your hyper 8 with? also what you said about the motor I have heard that before. it's like a crap shoot get a good one/ get a bad one. I am looking at the hoboa hyper 8 pro from rc mart. my thing is I want somthing I can hook a roto start too.

the guy said that he bought the car from the boys toys hobbies which is my local hobby shop and they still sell parts for it and probly wont stop for a long time as the yper 7 range has been very popular... remember i dnt want this buggy for trying to win national champs but maybe the smaller ones like proline... and club days ect ect... i think im going to buy this buggy as to refer to my 1st post and look what all the stuff it comes with!

I would not buy a 5 year old design rtr with all the new cars that are available for the same price. If you do, you have been warned and "WE TOLD YA SO". Read KAOS's post in the thread above. If you still want the used pbs 7, then nothing we are telling you is gonna do any good..
ANY new rtr, ASSSOCIATED, LOSI, JAMMIN, OCM, will be a better than the PBS. Its evolution, the technology in these cars are LEAPS and BOUNDS over ANY older car, not just the 7, all cars IMO .
It dosent matter if you are club racing or at the NATS. You owe it to yourself, to get the best equiptment you can afford if you are competing, dosent matter what level. I dont care if the pbs has gold plated parts on it, it not a better ride than what you could have. Whatr ever you deciede I hope it works well for you.

You can find a Mugen MBX5 Prospec on ebay for $150-200 as a roller that is a much better car. I had a Hyper 7 PBS Paul Coleman edition back 5-6 years ago when they first came out, at the time it was a great buggy (for the price) then I got my Jammin, WOW what a differance, Now I am looking at a used MBX5 Prospec or waiting for my tax refund and getting a new X6. My buddy has a Hyper 7 pbs he races in Sportsman buggy here at our local track(Outback in Greeneville TN) When I drive it it feels like a brick compared to my Jammin, and my Jammin would feel like a brick compared to LUV's new MBX6. Just progress in technogly. My MBX5 "T" drives better than the Jammin and it's a truck!
But whatever you get have fun with it and get to all the races you can, you will enjoy it...!

Matt:
THAT engine came in a RD Logics buggy from ebay. I replaced it with a RB WS7 II & immediately started breaking stuff! TONS of power from the RB over the hyper engine!
As far as the Roto Starts, there is a backplate for ALMOST every engine out now. I had one on my Savage X 4.6 SS, the Sho buggy, etc.

hey nitro i just got the 8ight rtr and it rips man, i wouidnt buy someone elses old hak ,especialy 4 that money u were guna get ocm which is 600 u might as well get that,or splurge out a bit more an get the 8ight or rc8,i think the 8ight is the best value considering it got 2.4ghz with is perfect 4 racing at any level, the 8 handles better than any other rtr buggy i have used, yeah u might need a new throttle servo but thats not a real big deal,i got my 8 4 $790 and with the 2.0 comin out parts 4 the old roller will be cheap,i got roller chassis and roller shock towers 4 $110 brand new aready fitted them before i ran it 4 the 1st time :D:D

NitroRCs: +lots to those that said the hyper 7 PBS is old... very old, while you can still get parts, its not worth it as there has been 2 evolutions in the hyper since then, soon to be a third.
Crazy Jato: Be careful breaking a motor in at sub 15c, I broke mine in over winter but did it in the shed where it was a little warmer and you must make sure you heat the head up with at least a hair dryer, preferably a heat gun, heat the head to 200F, prime the motor with fuel then start. Don't run the engine dry whatever you do and don't rev the engine straight away. Just follow the engine manufacturers directions.

Isnt there 3 evolutions since the Hyper 7? Hyper 8, Hyper 8.5 and Hyper 9?

yup, the 9 is NICE. Im gonna have to say it will probably be there most successful car to date. Ill bet they release it in a rtr. Ill ask next time I chat with the team cat that frequents our local spot.

The way I understood it, the hyper 9 hasn't been formally released here in Australia yet, which is why I said the third evolution was soon to come.
