What is the best way to practise to paint R/C bodies. This is with out having to use car bodies. My cousin said empty cola bottles cut in half could work.

What type of paint should i use?
Will normal spray paint work?

you can use old plexi glass and i use either spaz-stix or pactra for paint "both oil-based".

I got told by someone years ago to practice on old coke bottles. Are you just using spray cans or air brush?

Just use anything to practise, just get the cheap export paint from bunnings/super cheap/autobarn but on a actually body you will have to use Polycarbonate paint as it is more flexiable to won't flake off like other paint

I myself use glass. went to local glass store here in oroville got a 1/4 inch peice of glass 2.00? put duct tape around the edges and did designs on other side then started air brushing. when done turn over remove design and see how I did. then just wipe off and start over. on the body's I paint I only use spax stix. for practice i use the fascolors. If you want to use fast colors on your body I like to thin with windex window cleaner. I read that trick here on nitro addicts and it works great, better then water. also I had to learn the hard way. slow done take your time, and prep is 98% of your paint results. good luck. if I can help you in any way let me know. :puke:

forgot to mention you can also go to your local wal-nuts store and in there craft section they have cheap water based acrylics. great for farting around with. thats what I gave my wife to practice with. :rctruck:

I just use Tamiya Spray Cans. Just about every Hobby store in Australia will carry them, if there is a Toyworld etc. in town they will also stock them
But be sure to read what's on the tin as Tamiya make a few different spray cans for different purposes and all the tins look the same. You want Polycarbonate Paint

If it is only for practice, just use the cheap $2.50 from Super Cheap/Crazy Clarks. The Tamiya spray pack is nearly 1/3 the size of the Australian Export paint and cost $9.99 a tin
