I just ordered a Orion Charger, it does NiMH, NiCd, and Lipo. My friend has the Ice and seems to like it.
Just remember you'll need a power supply.

i like my ice charger. the team checkpoint version offers a backlight and 30 amp discharge instead of the 10 that the ice does.

I have the Orion Advantage and like it real well. If I could buy a new one, it would be the Checkpoint.

I've got two of the Ice's and love them . The teamcheckpoint is nice, but it only offer 10 more amp discharge and the backlit led for $50 more than the Ice. To me that's $50 that could go towards something else, oh and I don't charge batteries in the dark. I've got two custom built lexan stands for my Ice's so I can see the display. And if you do get the Ice, make sure you also get the temp. sensor for it. It'll shut down the charger if the battery gets to warm. Keeps you from exploding batteries. And also if your hobby store can get Common Sense Rc products you might want to pick up the charging lead they carry, It's called the octopus part# is octopus-1. It has just about every connection you will need plus leaves a red and black wire open so you can add one that isn't on there.

I use Hyperion Charger as I required a charger that could go up to 6S Lipo and it has a built in balancer. I also charge my batteries in a lipo sack.

You know Ron, Ive got a Ice charger and its really good. Its out of the first batch when they were brand new way back when...it still works great, so that says something about its quality. But when I made the switch to LiPo, I wanted something easier. Even though the Ice will automatically check parameters and change settings accordingly,I wanted to try something else. So I got this Dynamite charger that is LiPo specific

Its a nice, small setup that doesnt take up much space on your table, and its really easy to use.

Keep in mind, you need a powersupply, and its in your best interests to get a balancer too (like a blinky)...but for tx/rx duties, you dont need to balance every time you charge, so you can leave the balancer at home. I balance my packs the night before a race, then repeak without the balancer after heats are over.

Im very happy with the setup and wouldnt think twice if I had to do it all over again.

This setup is not the best to charge big LiPo packs. You can use it on bigger packs, but the max charge rate is 2 amps. So if youre looking for something that will charge 3000mah and up packs as quick as possible, you should look for something else. But for a cheap LiPo alternative its a killer setup:thumbs:

The Lithium Charge Converter will allow you to charge a Lithium battery with a charger you probably already own. Just plug a Lithium battery into the charge converter, select the cell type and confirm the number of cells, adjust the charger to the correct output, plug it into the charger and start charging! The converter allows you to use a nickel-based charger to charge Lithium-based batteries. No need to buy an expensive LiPo charger.

they dont give the lipos a full charge... couple local guys used em (ones a horizon tech) and all quit using them for a regular lipo charger.
