For the first time today I drove my car through mud and all sorts of stuff (has been raining here alot latley) and found it alot harder to clean the car at the end of the day. If it is just dirt i just get out the air compressor and blow it all away but mud just doesn't want to move. What do people use to clean off mud etc.?

Cheers

Yup, my last race I hit the practice session to early and had mud every where. I had to take it apart and used a tooth brush and rags with water to get the mud off.
Usually I use Denatured Alcohol and an Air Compressor.

Brake cleaner works good!! But it turned my plastic a grey color. :smiley_aayp:
WD should help it...... :0pouce:

Make sure you use NON-CLORONATED brake cleaner. Test some on a small area on a plastic part and see what happens. If it discolors the plastic don't use it. I use an old paint brush and a old tooth brush first. Next the aircompressor. Then I get out the solvent's. Finally WD 40 .When using solents wear latex gloves. Some cleaners can be bad for you.MAKE SURE YOU ENGINE IS COOL TO THE TOUCH. Some break cleaners are FLAMMABLE. WOOOOOF!!! "Hey where are my eyebrows" :nono2:

Pressure washer just pull your radio and motor and blast away all dirt works better and faster than a complete tear down with a tooth brush.

I use my air compressor and some simple green then after I'm done I spray the plastic parts and it makes them look brand new.

Wouldnt that rust all the metal parts and kill the servos?

I haven't rusted any thing yet remember mud has water in it so it will rust any thing that can rust anyway, besides most of the metal parts are aluminum and will not rust and when I said pull the radio I ment all of the eletronics.
I have a Savage X, S-Maxx, Axis Buggy and a Thunder Tiger SSK all get cleaned with the pressure washer.

What ever way any of you clean your R/C the main thing is have fun getting them dirty.

You know, I found that WD helps to keep the mud from sticking, but dust sticks to it like crazy, so try to avoid WD in friction prone areas...like cvd's and hingepins.

I recently discovered a line of car care products made by Dupont that has Teflon in it...its supposed to keep dirt from sticking to your real car, so it should work for a RC. I havent gone out and tried to find it yet, but I plan to get some soon...if someone else gets some before I post the results, let us know how it works.

EDIT:I got the Dupont spray on wax with Teflon. I havent used it yet, but it says on the bottle that the teflon helps to repel dirt...well see how it works

i remove the electronics and engine first. then i spray the car down with simple green. thin i hose it off with water and use an aircompressor to try it. for the electronics i just clean with a tooth brush
