I always ran an os 12 cv-r, but they are now discontinued. The replacement, the os 12TG is supposed to be a sweet motor:thumbs:

You can still find some .12 CV-R s around. Still about $100 too!

Yes, the are expensive, but well worth it. I am on my second engine in 4 years! My first engine lasted 20 gallons. The only thing I ever had to do was install a new front bearing at gallon 15. The second motor is at gallon 15 right now, with no sign of wear on the bearing. Im running a looser mesh now and think this is why.

Yes you could by a cheaper motor and have it modded, but it prolly still wont run like an RB. There is NOTHING more reliable on the market IMO.

I use the WOT run /break in method like Rody himself dose. Yeah you'll go through a gallon in a couplr hrs. but when your done, race tune it and forget about it for a while. Get about 2.5 - 3 gallons through the engine and the thing is just getting broke in and you will be AMAZED!

Like everyone said O.S.

But the Dynamite motors are also very good and last awhile from what I've heard, straight drop in.

thanks. i was thinking about the os engines. just didn't know which one. i want something without a lot of torque, so i wouldn't spin the tires coming out of the corners. still thinking:rock:

Wheel spin can be dialed out from the radio, if its a racing radio(m8, m11, 3pjs, 3pk) anything with D/R ,EXPO, or TRAC. It better to have the power and not need it than just not have it at all. IMO

Before I was a buggy guy, I wore out 3 gas trucks, 2 Assoc. and 1 sLosi. I have had atleast 1 of each motor mention in this thread, including the Dynamite. This is all first hand expirience of my own.

john to get a good 1/10 scale pipe you will prob. have to use a os 1040 kinda price around 100.00.im sure there are more but that was what was recommended for my motor.the rb .12 are pricey 224.00.but it is totally up to you on what you like and want..oh yea john dont forget hunter she got a new motor this year.

How bout a picco red dot? Those little things rip! Jammin makes a nice pipe for the .5 that you may want to look into as well, but I dont think the header will work with a 2wd truck...

A fast motor will do more harm than good IF you don't have your ride hooked up.

Dont worry about the extra power. You will realize after you break it in and race tuned, YES it has alot more power. But it's more a more useable powerband because of port configuring RB dose.

Engines with less power have to tuned for kill and leaned to deth, where a stronger motor dose not. The stronger motor will have a more lenear(sp) feel through out the power band. It's not just on or off power, like 2 strokes are known for. It makes for more throttle control and more driveablity. Combine better control and lower temps at high rpm from not having to lean the needles so much to make power will result in long lasting reliable engines and cheaper in the long run . I'd say for you OVAL guys this is pretty crucial from the constant RRRR's.
