I usually only oil the inner, but if you know that you are going to be running on a really dusty track, then oil both:thumbs:

I oil both Outer and Inner filters plus I run Johnson to Johnson bandage wrap on top of the pre filter.

I oil the inner filter only and I run on a fairly dusty track and the inner is always clean after race day. I change the outer before the mains.
