I use nitro cleaner, but dont rely on it to get everything clean. I soak the gears in WD, then use a tooth brush to scrub, nitro cleaner to spray off WD, then air compressor to blow off any leftovers.
One of these GMK supply diff dunkers and a can of solvent would make it much easier though...dont know why I dont have one of these yet.

For the cups, I wipe them out, spray in some WD and let it drain, hit it with some air (but when using the air I hold the cup in a rag and cover the top of the cup with the rag to keep it from blowing WD and silicone all over the place), qtips to wipe any thing thats leftover, then nitro cleaner and more air.
...maybe someone could make something like the RPM bearing blaster to make cleaning cups a little easier...if someone makes it, I want $$$$

i use a can of $1.17 engine degreaser from walmart then wipe everything out with paper towels afterwards. seems to work good so far with no hazing.

I do to, but it isnt that bad. It plays a big part in traction, I can really tell if I drive my car right after I do the diffs after not doing them for awhile.
I usually don't go longer then 3-4 races without doing them, I do them before every big race too.

I'll bet you can find this "diff dunker" in your local supermarket. It's called a tea-egg over here.

Holy cow.....I've used one of those since the 80's..... It's for brewing fresh Tea. You can find them in the Tea section for $1.99 at Grocery stores.

Q-tips and electric motor spray/nitro cleaner/ engine degreaser/ whatever. A shot of WD-40 afterwards, then fresh diff fluid. Perfect every time. Very easy to do. The hardest part is getting the diffs out and back in. I do it all the time, makes a world of difference. I have heard of folks using a wire polishing tip on their dremmel, and going to town on the gears, but to me that is over the top. ...... Nerd alert!! ..... Not necessary. Just keep fresh diff fluid in and you are good to go.
