I'm torn between doing a full FLM rebuild to my savvy (full FLM savvys IMO are the nicest trucks ever) or getting a revo 3.3 and buying a 2.5 r chassis or buying an LST2. Keep in mine if I FLM my savage all the parts it will cost me about $1700 AUD. Descisions descisions LOL

lol, yeah last week i was deciding to sell my REVO or get a buggy. Decided to keep the REVO and do some more with it. The 2.5R is on ebay now and I am saving up to put a O.S .18TM in. Also doing a few other little things as my local track is currently getting rebuilt so i decided to do it know

Hey Kaos, did you end up getting the 18 tm for your revo? I am ordering a revo 2.5r, a picco .26 max and an ofna engine mount from tower, all up including shipping it will be about $955 AUD, not bad aye?

Yeah i did get it from Tower Hobbies and then sold the REVO not to long after that. Had a ton more power than the 2.5R. Would be crazy to see a .26 in there. Why you getting the 2.5R and not the 3.3R. Picco would probably go better in the 3.3R due to the longer wheel base. Tower Hobbies usually have specials on (eg: Spend $199 and save $30) is that price including that?

Cheers

RC_KAOS
11-11-2006, 04:36 PM
You should also add to your list of items - thickers rockers (only if you get 2.5r), thicker shock springs and thicker oil as the standard REVO 2.5R set-up is very, very soft. $955 isn't bad and then you can sell the engine for $120 Approx, I sold my 2.5R used engine (3 gallons) for $80 on ebay

I want the 2.5r because I like the look of the short chassis, wheelies and backflips (I'm mainly a basher) but also, if I got the 3.3 from tower it would bring the cost up to over a grand and then I'd have to pay duties. The soft set up doesn't really worry me because I really need to try and stop wheelies (the picco .26 max and the revo 3.3 will flip when it hits second gear if u want it to, it will be a handfull in a 2.5r). May I ask (not being rude) How much you sold your revo for and what it had on it?

$650 I got for it with the OS .18TM Engine, RPM Arms, Proline Wabash wheels etc.

I saw this done on the Traxxas forum and did the mod myself, just wanted to let everyone here in on it.

http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m255/marojato/P3030263.jpg

This mod was done using a 3.3 Revo steering link.

After removing the rear body moung and rear bulkhead. I removed the middle clip used to hold the ex start wires.
Attach one end of the steering link to the chassis using a 3x15 button head screw and lock nut on the underside.

For the upper mount, I used a 1/8 drill bit and made another hole in the body mount where the exhaust hanger goes. I drilled this hole angled towards the back of the mount. Here is a pic
http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m255/marojato/P3030268.jpg

Reinstall the bulkhead and body mount.
Once this is done the link can be attached to the body mount with another 3x15 bhs.

Note:
I have silber springs and P3 rockers on my truck, to fit well I had to remove the shocks and install the link, once the link was attached to the body mount i reinstalled the shocks.

The body mount has another location for hanging the exhaust, I decided to make my own hanger out of a wire coat hanger. I mounted it the the chassis via the right rear screw attaching through the chassis and body mount to the bulkhead, since taking the pic I have painted black, left it this way so it would show up better in picture.
http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m255/marojato/P3040290.jpg

This mod still leaves a little flex in the mount. But it does remove the bulk of the flex, especially when landing a jump on the back end with or without a wing installed, I thing the hanger mounted on the chassis will remove alot of the problems with the manifolds breaking because the pipe isn't mounted to the body mount and not moving with the body mount.

I have ran this at the track for aout 2 hours yesterday and had several rear landings, I actually broke my wing with no damage to the body mount or wing mount.

marojato
03-29-2007, 03:12 PM
I painted my first body, what do you think. I probably went over my head a little with so much detail for the first time, and got a little bleed in the checkers. I am happy with the results though and have learned from my mistakes.

what rockers are you running ??

i don't race, i just bash around the yard but

im using the p2 rockers with the red push rods, and 50wt oil, in all four shocks, its noticeable differance from the stock ones takes the bigger jumps nicers, and i only noticed some rear end hop but that was when my preload was set high

P1 rockers are way to soft for the REVO. I was also running P2 rockers and Slaydaddy uses them to. Can't remember what springs I was running but I was also running 50wt oil
