looks good...now I need to see how it runs! You gonna have time to break it in?

Lets put it this way....I'm making time to break it in. I've got a whole new clutch assembly ready to go for it and I'm going to use the WOT method to break it in. This will give me plenty of time to get a few tanks in it quickly.

Well I have news to report about this powerplant.....GOODNIGHT!! is this thing fast. I'm still running to engine farely rich (around 180-90 temp) and it pretty much pullin wheel. I had it out on the track today and it was making a O.S. v-spec look like a ready to run engine. Its super easy to tune and tons of power anywere. the low, mid, and top had plenty of power even with a rich setting. Better watch out for the 1st series race. only downside at the moment.......i broke a gear set today in my futaba s9351 steering servo. So I'm trying to get that ASAP before the race.

New to racing, and of course keeping the darn things all in one piece...
To the point, anybody have a clue (3 turns this way, 1 1/2 turns that way) regarding the high / low factory carb settings for the Evo III?
Though relatively new, it is coming up on being fully broke in, though the local track mechanic may have been a bit hasty twisting and turning things before deserting me.
:cussing:
Just want to start over and clean the tune up in the front yard- much to the enjoyment of my neighbors of course... LOL
:D
TIA

its basicly all about the temp.and the performance.the most power you can get with out over heating .start rich 2-2 1/2 turns out from closed on the high speed good starting point.run it .lean it out to get more power when you think you have it maxed out ,run hard for 1 min and check temp. if you dont have a temp gun .put spit on the heat sink if it sizzles of instanly its to hot richen it it should take 20 sec to sizzle off thats good.try that

Its really not about temp at all. If the motor wants to run 280 then let it run 280. As long as there is smoke you shouldn't be lean. And it running correctly with lots of power and smoke means it's getting the right amount of lubrication of the internals.
Also water boils at 212F* so if it boils right off you know your way above 212F*. If it boils a little then you know you right around 212F*. And if it just sits there you know it's still fat.
