What makes these so popular?

There not that popular anymore. Buggies and Truggies and the biggest thing in R/C now. There are only 3 main kits for the stadium trucks - mugen, losi and ae. And AE's kit is over 10 years old :? You can pick up a RTR buggy the same price as a RTR 1/10 truck which is making the buggies the must popular kit out now 8)

.12's and .15 are way lighter

1/10 scale trucks take more skill to drive fast than a Buggy or Truggy. You have to have good throttle control and hit your lines right or you loose time real fast. You don't have the luxuary of 4wd and a big block to punch it and get up to speed.

On Tower Hobbies the Team kit has been discontinued and they only have Limited Quantities of the non pull start factory team and no stock on the pull start factory team :?

stadiums are a lot of fun to drive, its totaly different thrashing a stadium round a track than driving a savage or buggy round... i really like it, but it does take some skill to drive one round a track at speed... if i had a choice of stadium over buggy it would be stadium every time. i hated racing buggys, was such a battle to stop it rolling i diddnt enjoy it atall
