Im mixed, I love to look it over and get it all new again.
But hate to time it takes. It takes me about 2-3 good days to get mine where i like it. Because I do a complete tear down. 8)

I have a specieal spray i use with a compresser and it gets everything pretty good. But racing every week there isnt really a point to doing a complete teardown.

I clean my rc's spotless everytime i take them out. It only takes me 5 mins to clean my savage spotless brand new even the tires. I get a brand of degreaser and it is an extremely high pressure can and if you press the futton just right it will blow any dirt away. then i push the button on full ball and leave it like that it looks like a big white snowball.come back 10 mins later and it is perfect

2 or 3 days  it takes me an evening to completely tear a savage down to the diffs, clean and rebuild. so about 4 hours. and savage's arent the easiest to dismantle

So if u had a ss 4.6 kit and it was clean you could build it in less than 2 hours if u had radio geaR? WOW

What I hate most, is digging the dirt out of the allen heads on the bottom of the chassis. If you dont get all the crap out of the screw, you could strip it....I have found that a xacto knife is the best tool for the job, just use a old blade, cause the tip will be gone quickly.

I have a idea on a car cleaner, that if it works like it does on a car, will make cleaning these cars much much easier....

My compressor will get all our most of the dirt out but if it doesnt I use one of the little picks the dentist use for your teeth to get all of it out

It's all part of it, you play you pay.

Easiest method is Simple Green and an Air Compressor  add a bearing blaster and a Ryobi 4V Lithium-Ion Screwdriver and you can cut 3 days down to about 5 hours for a complete tear down/rebuild including diff's.

LOL...dig up the past!

Actually, not quite. I was testing a full size car tire protectant that has teflon in it that was supposed to prevent dirt from sticking. It didnt work very well as a cleaner, but when the car was clean and you applied it, it made the plastics shine, and did help to keep dirt from sticking, but didnt work as well as other products I had used. If it worked like I had hoped, I was going to buy as much as I could find, re-package it and sell it...but it didnt, so my 'Scoobie Wash' never came to be :)

This (http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/165309/n/ODonnell-Speed-Wash-Car-Cleaner-32oz) works pretty good...so does the Kal-Guard products..

I dont have air so i just take the engine, fuel tank,&radio tray out then hang the buggy from my garage door and spray it with simple green. Then i hit it with a brush on the thick stuff and spray it again. I was surprised out how well it works. Gets it really clean, then i just brush on some wd40.

I like racing, maintaining and cleaning my cars. Sometimes i just cant find the time to clean it some times though. But as soon as i can i do.

I must agree with the Simple Green and Air compressor though, works a treat, and if you racing in mud, spray the car over in silicon spray, it stops the mud from sticking. And with the screws on the bottom of thhe chassis, just get a really small flat head screw driver (make sure it dosent hits the edges of the screw or you could strip it) and just twist it and all the dirt comes out easy as!

Cheers

man I love my Black Ram but dang, just spent 10 hours buffing/waxing it. Winter was harsh on her this year. :D

Whats the time conversion for cleaning 1/8 scale vs. 1/1 ?

... I blow all the dirt off I can with my compressor.
then use a toothbrush and finally wipe everything down with paper towels.

I only tear down as necessary.:rctruck:

i used to be the laziest RC maintenance racer ever lol i would race all day, finish then just throw it in the hauler and not touch it till next week!

i used to always have issues with breakages and clutch bearings and everything, then my mates explained the importance if cleaning/inspecting and replacing potentially worn out items like bearings etc

now i hit it quickly with the compressor between every heat and remove engine, tray and tank at the end of everyday and simple grean and compressor it.

clutch bearings are new everyday and if in a big final i'll replace again!
