i am thinking about swapping in a different motor into my revo, it currently has the 2.5r, i plan on putting the motor in when the weather gets warmer, stays warmer, but i wanted to get some suggestions from other people on this site, so if you could suggest what motor and why that would be most helpfull. thanx

btw i don't really want to go to a pull start

RD Logics and a couple other companies, make a Revo specific starter box...lots of benifits when you remove the Traxass starting system.

For a motor I would look into a OS .18....plenty of motor for that truck, and OS reliability cant be beat.

i have been thinking maybe picco .28 just because of the direct drop-in and lotsa power, and the ez-start would bolt right on, but i might go a another route, i.e roto start, starter box, i just can't decide, and if i need a different motor mount isn't that spendy

A revo with a picco .28 would be hard to control. It would be a wheelie machine! whoho!

i've been highly impressed with the 3.3 from traxxas. i think with some mods it would be insane fast. i dropped one in my tmaxx and it's wheelie happy already without mods

A picco .28 would be sweet but will be hard to control with the smaller 2.5r chassis. I had a os .18tm and even it was going wheelies

Cheers

ya wheelies are cool as heck, but get annoying when i just wanna give 'er the gusto, but i think i could figure it out re-gear, switch to a 3.3 chassis, throttle control, maybe it would just be a big learnind curve ?? lol:huba:

why don't you just trade yours in and get a 3.3 revo?

j/k dude, found a picco .28 online for 189.95. but you still won't be as fast as me:blbl:

so its time for me me to buy my new motor i have its down to two, the picco .26 maxx and the picco .28

i think the .26 maxx is a mid block, with the short crank case, so i can still use the ez-start, or pull start, or the roto start correct ??

and the .28 is a true big block, with the longer case, so nothing will fit on the back of motor with out hitting the a-arms, so i have to switch to a start box ??

i want the .28 but i think it might be to much of a PITA anyone have any thoughts ? i plan to buy the motor friday so pls help

You may run into problems finding a decent pipe that will fit a big block revo...

I don't understand why all the revo guys want a dang big block. the O.S. 18tm is a ton of power, and you don't have to modify or anything, in fact it comes with a manifold to make sure it fits, there is a t-maxx version and a revo version. give it a serious look if you haven't already made a purchase

i thought about the OS 18tm, i know the picco prob will be WAY to much for the revo, and if i get sick of it,or if i don't like wheelies on demand, ill just pull it, and then go to the OS but i really would like first hand experience, no one i know around me has ran a picco in a revo, my favorite guy at the lhs, says the OS 18 is best bang for the buck in the revo, for power, long life.

I HAVE A PICCO .26 ON MY REVO AND IT IS WICKED........THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAD WITH IT WAS IT KEPT ON BURNING THE COUPLER OFF THE PIPE SO I HAD TO BUY A TUNED PIPE AND BOY LET ME TELL YA AFTER I DID THAT IT GOT EVEN MORE WICKED. BUT HOPW THAT HELPS. I WILL POST SOME MORE PICS OF MY REVO SOON.......

Go with the o.s 18tz It will rip, But you have to buy another crank and grind it down are you can run the tz crank but you have to use like a mugen clutch bell and shoes. Ask JPR we put one in his revo its bad $ss now.
