Got a used RC10 GT rtr(#7091) and been searching sites for information. Called AE to get the manual for the truck because I got it used and it didnt have one.
Question 1. Was on the AE site and came across a page showing how to setup the throttle return spring, but my truck doesnt have one. Should it?
2. Will parts that come on the team built truck fit on my truck?
3. The motor is hard to start 40+ pull on the cord. Previous owner
had no clue what he was doing. All the carb settings were way off
from the specs from AE. Shhould I rebuild clean out carb Etc?

Thats it for know, Im sure to be back with a lot more ?

Mike.

Yes you should instal a throttle return spring if there isnt one.

Yes parts from the Factory Team truck are interchangeable.

If the motor is hard to start, it could be any number of things. It could be that you have the wrong plug in the motor, you may have a airleak somewhere (motor/pipe/tank), or worst case senario the motor may just be worn out.

Try putting it back to factory, use a new 'hot' glow plug, some fresh fuel and a new glow ignitor battery and see what happens.

Does the motor have compression left? If it does it may just be the needle settings, plug, or a dead glow starter. Try what scoobie said and if its got life it will start.

Good luck and welcome to the site!

The Motor does start it just takes 40 to 50 pulls on the pullstarter. Dont have a compression check tool but my friend has a new car and I pulled his P/S and it felt the same as mine. Bought a 59 glowplug and have two glowstarters that work.

Another thing, when I got the car the pull starter wouldnt pull. Took of the pull starter, that was fine, tried turning the flywheel it still wouldnt budge. Took of the head and saw that some collected fuel on the piston had turned gummy. Wiped it clean and pured some fuel from the fuel bottle on top to break up the gummed fuel and turned the flywheel again and it moved. Re-installed everything and eventually it started. I dont know how long the car sat but after I thought about it maybe fuel got gummed up in the carb, Ports Etc? If it did sit for long is it advisable to teardown the motor and carb for cleaning and inspection? I am new to Nitro cars but I have lots of experience building car motors, guns and mountain bikes.

Thanks again for your patience and time.

Mike.

Do you still have it set to factory specs? Those are usually for break in. You may have to lean it out quite a bit from the factory specs to get it to run in your climate/altitude...

yup, sounds like you just need to get the carb set right.

Another question. Does Nitro fuel go bad after sitting around?

Yes, thats why I sugested fresh fuel in my first response...:)

You want to keep your fuel in a cool, dry place. Keep it off concrete floors and out of the sun...I store my fuel in a cooler, that way the temperature is somewhat regulated. Its also good to use at the track.

another thing, make sure you are geting pressure on the fuel tank. sounds to me like fuel is slow going to carb ???

I hate pullstarts, to many blisters.

Are you priming it before you try to start it?
You can blow on the preasure line and should see the fuel move to the carb. Carbs can get plugged up from setting with fuel in the line. But if the fuel is moving though it, it should work. If it seems pluged the frist thing to clean up would be the high speed needle. If you do take it apart lube the O-rings when you reinstall them.

Yes I do blow in the line that goes in the pipe before starting. The high speed needle is the largest screw on the carb correct? Disassembly consist of just unscrewing to remove?

Not to hijack :D but I am having a simular problem with the fuel. There seems to be air bubbles in the fuel line and when I prime it there is no movement. You can pull till ur arm falls off and it won't start. I prime the carb with a shot of Nitro and 2 pulls and it starts and runs good till you let it idle for a couple minutes then she dies? Then pull about 10 times or half throttle it and it fires up again. Acts as if it doesn't get fuel? How/where do I check for air leaks? I hear pipe, motor and fuel line but how. Could it be anything else? Good compression, glow plug and batt.

Fuel lines can have air in them sometimes, doesn't effect how they will run. Sounds like you have a tuning problem, set your engine back to factory first and try to start it and tune it from there. Keep an eye on the temps.

Header was super loose on one side, seems to run fine. Could that have been it?
