Carbon shoes will last a bit longer and wont' tear up your Clutch bell.
I run Kyosho Bell with Mugen shoes and 1.0 springs

Mugen shoes lasted me a 4 races and they were used on a grooved clutch bell from my old Aluminum shoes. They are still kicking. Not to mention the practice too.

All clutch systems have their pros and cons, and it boils down to personal preference and how often you like to pull out your motor.
I have used Mugen, Ofna, Kyosho, HB and Fioroni...of them all I like the Kyosho and Fioroni best.

I am running 2 carbons/1 alum too...but where most guys are running 1.0 on the carbons and 1.1 on the alum., I changed it up a little and used .95 carb/1.0 alum....I also read on the grid that Cody King is running 2 alum/1 carb w/1.0s all around. Might be worth trying....
K-Car carbons are THE BEST carbon shoe out there...and they better be for $25!!!! They last longer than any other carbon shoe out (Ive used almost all of them), especially the MOOOOgens...haha...but you have to watch the pin holes, if you overheat your clutch theyll get wallowed out.

I should have also said, that the 3 shoe has more adjustability than the Turbo slider, but the Turbo slider requires much less maintanance. I have 2 gallons on my ts, and Im still on the same set of cb bearings. I am going to try the new Twin Turbo shoes soon...it has more adjujstibility than the standard Turbo http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/cPath/23_78/products_id/6931
